IT Today serves as a forum for exchanging best practices and insights based on managerial experience in order to advance the practice of information technology (IT or ICT) systems management. Its targeted IT community readership is the same as its targeted authors: IT practitioners and consultants who are thought leaders in applying theoretical frameworks and deriving insights from the field.
The editorial review process places a high value on article content that communicates advanced practices to address current IT management challenges and innovative applications of new, but proven, information technologies.
The methodological orientation is towards field research informed by published literature, but primarily based on case study, multi-organization surveys, and field experiences of IT experts. The following IS management issues are among those currently being addressed:
Achieving Strategic IT Alignment and Capabilities: IT-business alignment, developing IT capabilities, repositioning the IT function, strategic IT planning, advanced budgeting and performance metrics for the IT function, IT governance, CIO and other IT leadership roles, IT sourcing alternatives and practices, IT ethics issues.
Planning and Managing an Enterprise Infrastructure: IT architecture planning, managing distributed systems and networks, providing quality network services, the role of service level agreements, data warehousing strategies, wireless network implementations, IT security management, business continuity and IT risk management.
Selecting and Delivering Application Solutions of Business Value: portfolio management, managing complex IT projects, applications of new technologies, advanced make vs. buy strategies and tactics, advanced systems development approaches, component reusability approaches, advanced quality assurance techniques.
Integrating E-Business Technologies and Functionality: developing clicks-and-bricks capabilities, managing corporate intranets, applications of new Internet technologies, Internet security issues, leveraging evolving Internet standards, achieving effective e-business technology partnerships and supply chain relationships.
Supporting Knowledge Workers: providing end-user support, managing end-user computing risks, monitoring acceptable usage and IT security procedures, facilitating individual telecommuting and virtual teamwork, maintaining employee and customer privacy, knowledge management strategies and tactics.
